just wanted to chime in that I purchased a D'Borer 7.5' 4wt a
couple of months ago. The rod is very well made, attractive and casts
well on my lawn. I have not fished it yet but leave for Montana
tomorrow morning where it will be put through its paces on the Ruby
and the BitterRoot. When I return I will fill in the how does it fish
part but I'd recommend these rods based on what I have thus far...
OK folks....just returned form Montana and fished Doug's rod every
day for 7 days straight in every condition imaginable on the Madison
and Ruby River and can say the rod performed beautifully. Mine is a
7.5 ft 4 wt based on A Dickerson 7012 (D'Borer 764) and it is a great
dry fly rod. It loves to have 30+ feet of line out and I even made
some ridiculously long casts on the Madison. One of its qualities I
discovered was it may be the best roll casting rod I have ever had in
my hands, which was a lively feature for presenting dry flies to weary
trout on the ruby where long casts were needed but the willows pressed
in tight. These are great rods at great prices from a maker whose rods
won't stay down this low for long. I have nothing to gain from this
endorsement I am just sharing my great enthusiasm fro this rod.
I would like to comment on the quality and workmanship of D'Borer
rods! I purchased a 7'er and have had a blast using it here on our
delayed harvest water! Using a 4wt WF line it is very accurate and
perfect for the tight places I fish! Doug, I've caught about 40 nice
trout on it so far! I am very pleased with the rod! I also have a rod
on order from Jeff Fultz and really look forward to it being made! It
will be my first custom order rod and I am very excited! Now for the
wait! These 2 are a real pleasure to do business with! Thanks to both
of you!
